From Respect to Apathy: Wendy E. Parmet’s Perspective

Wendy E. Parmet will delve into the themes presented in the book, Constitutional Contagion, COVID, the Courts and Public Health in a talk scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, from noon to 1 p.m. in Room A59 of the School of Law at 11075 East Blvd. Parmet will explore the shift from deference to indifference that occurred during the pandemic and its lingering effects in post-pandemic challenges to the authority of organizations such as the FDA and EPA, as well as childhood vaccine laws. The discussion will also touch upon the connection between the decline of deference and threats to democracy, and what this new judicial era may mean for public health moving forward.
