The City of Fayetteville has expanded its grant program for businesses looking to renovate their storefronts or purchase their store locations. Initially funded by the American Rescue Plan, the city is now using community funds to support business growth.
One business owner who benefited from the grant program is Bobbie Jo Wirt, the owner of All American Drivers Education Inc. She used the grant to purchase a warehouse on North Racepath Street and revitalize the space. With a $30,000 grant for the down payment and a $24,000 grant for renovations, Wirt was able to improve the property significantly.
The Commercial Exterior Grant Program is being used by the City of Fayetteville to fund renovations for businesses throughout the city. With approximately $300,000 available for grants, the program aims to stimulate the local economy and strengthen small businesses in the community.
Derrick McArthur, the economic and community development manager for the City of Fayetteville, emphasized that one goal of this program is diversifying tax base while supporting small businesses through these grants. He highlighted how it has positively impacted RDL Therapeutic Physical Therapy Clinic, whose owner Darnisha James received a grant for renovations that attracted more clientele and staff.
Overall, business owners like Wirt and James see this grant program as an opportunity for small businesses to improve their properties and attract more customers. Wirt encourages other business owners not to be intimidated by process as she found it seamless and beneficial
