Founder of CVS Health Dies

Stanley P. Goldstein, co-founder of CVS Health Corp., passed away at the age of 89. He was a key figure in the development of CVS Health, which has become a major player in the healthcare industry. Karen Lynch, the president and CEO of CVS Health, paid tribute to Goldstein as a business pioneer, mentor, and caring leader. She emphasized his customer-centric approach as a driving force behind the company’s success.

Goldstein and his brother Sid opened the first Consumer Value Store in Lowell, Mass. in 1963. Through Goldstein’s leadership, the company expanded and diversified its offerings, with a focus on pharmacy, health, and beauty care. In 1996, CVS Health went public with Goldstein serving as its first chairman of the board until 1999. He remained on the board until 2007. Today, CVS Health headquartered in Woonsocket, RI employs over 300 thousand colleagues including significant number of healthcare professionals and ranks No 5 on Progressive Grocer’s list of top food and consumables retailers in North America. The legacy of Goldstein continues to influence the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and excellence in healthcare services.
