Dallas Cowboys legend Larry Allen dies unexpectedly at age 52 while on vacation with family, team confirms

Larry Allen, a legendary offensive lineman of the Dallas Cowboys and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, passed away suddenly on Sunday while vacationing in Mexico with his family. He was 52 years old. Throughout his illustrious career, he played every position on the offensive line except for center, earning several accolades including 11 Pro Bowl selections, six First-Team All-Pro nods and a Super Bowl win in 1996.

Allen was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013 and the Cowboys Ring of Honor in 2011. He was known for his great athleticism, incredible strength, versatility and dependability. Allen opened up running lanes for Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith, who is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher. He was also part of both the 1990s and 2000s All-Decade teams.

For 12 out of his 14 seasons, Allen played with the Cowboys before finishing off his career with the San Francisco 49ers. He is survived by his wife Janelle, whom he called his heart and soul as well as daughters Jayla and Loriana and son Larry III. The Cowboys extended their deepest condolences to the Allen family and all those who loved him. Larry Allen was an inspiration to many players; he embodied what it meant to be a great teammate, competitor and winner.”
