Remarkable Scholars: The University of Cincinnati Produces Outstanding Student-Athletes for Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Awards

Seventeen Bearcats Awarded Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholarships

The University of Cincinnati has produced some remarkable student-athletes who have been recognized for their academic and athletic achievements. These honorees are among the seventeen students from various sports teams who received Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Awards, presented by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. This annual program recognizes outstanding sports scholars who excel in community service and student leadership, in addition to their athletic and academic pursuits.

The awards were given to eleven women’s student-athletes, with basketball and soccer leading the way with three each. Jordan Young and Ken Willis from football were also honored, along with Viktor Lakhin from men’s basketball, Gal Ido and Brogan Robinson from men’s swimming and diving, and Camden Beatty from men’s track and field.

On the women’s side, Jillian Hayes, Mya Jackson, and Malea Williams were recognized for their contributions to basketball, while Dani Mlkvy was honored for her work on the lacrosse team. Brooke Brown, Kendall Battle, Vyviene Spaulding, Mia Hensley from women’s swimming and diving, Anaya Dees and Faith Kingsley from women’s track and field were also recognized for their exceptional performance. Lastly, Shaye Eggleston was acknowledged for her outstanding work on the volleyball team.

Each of these student-athletes has demonstrated excellence both on and off the field by showcasing their commitment to community service and student leadership in addition to their academic achievements. A full list of honorees by school, sport, team can be found here.
