Regional Economy: Balancing Taxes and Services in Iowa City

April 16 Business Breakfast: The Gazette

On Tuesday, April 16, The Gazette’s Business Breakfast Series will be held at The James Theater. This event brings together business and community leaders from various industries to discuss important issues impacting the regional economy.

One of the topics that will be explored during the panel discussion is the impact of lowering property and other taxes at the local level. While reducing taxes may be popular, there is a tension between keeping taxes low and meeting the demand for local services.

The panelists for this event include Jon Landon from Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, Geoff Fruin from the City of Iowa City, Ryan Heiar from the City of North Liberty, and Jaron Wilde from the University of Iowa. During the panel discussion, they will address this topic and answer questions from the audience. Pre-registration is encouraged, and tickets include a light breakfast. Attendees will have the opportunity to network for the first half-hour before the panel discussion begins.

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 16 from 8 AM to 9 AM with doors opening at 7:30 AM. The location is The James Theater at 213 N Gilbert St, Iowa City, Iowa 52245. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Get your tickets now to join in on an insightful discussion about taxes and local services!
