The World Golf Village in St. Johns County is undergoing a change in its redevelopment plans, as evidenced by the recent release of a community survey by the county commissioners. The survey results will play a significant role in determining the future direction of the property.

In April, the county purchased 37 acres of the World Golf Village for $5.5 million instead of selling it to a private company, allowing city leaders to have control over the property’s redevelopment. The survey, which had 5,000 participants, revealed that over 60% of respondents want the IMAX theater to remain open, while 73% feel that the World Golf Hall of Fame building should be repurposed for other uses.

The survey also indicated that 59% of participants expressed a desire for 21 World Golf Place, the location of PGA Tour productions, to be transformed into a professional or corporate space. These results show that there is a clear interest in the community for specific changes to the World Golf Village.
