Red Sweep: Cincinnati Reds Outlast New York Yankees in Standoff Before First Pitch.

Thursday’s game between the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees was delayed due to a standoff that took place before the first pitch. Reds infielder Graham Ashcraft and Carson Spiers faced off against Yankees’ Ian Hamilton and Cody Poteet in a standoff that lasted more than five minutes after the national anthem. Eventually, Spiers backed down and returned to the dugout, while Ashcraft remained standing.

The Reds shared video of the standoff on social media, showing Ashcraft as the last man standing before Yankees manager Aaron Boone instructed his players to end it. Despite the delay, the Reds went on to beat the Yankees 8-4 to complete a three-game sweep at Yankee Stadium.

After their successful series against the Yankees, the Reds are now gearing up to host the Detroit Tigers at Great American Ball Park this weekend. It was a memorable moment for Ashcraft and Spiers as they were both recognized for their determination and refusal to back down during the standoff. The Reds continue to show their competitive spirit and determination as they face off against opponents in the league.
