Record-Setting Performance: UJ Baseball Loses 4-1 to Concordia University (Neb.)

Concordia sweeps Jimmies in doubleheader on the baseball field – Jamestown Sun

The University of Jamestown baseball team lost 4-1 to Concordia University (Neb.) on April 22 at Jack Brown Stadium. Despite giving up a solo home run and back-to-back singles in the top of the first inning, Luke Zimmer, the Jimmies’ pitcher, managed to work his way out of the inning with two fly outs.

As the game progressed, Luke Zimmer continued to struggle as Concordia hit two more solo home runs and added another run on a sacrifice fly through the sixth inning. However, the Jimmies were able to score a run in the bottom of the seventh when Hayden Brown hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 4-1.

Luke Zimmer lasted four innings before being pulled from the mound, giving up two runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts but no walks. On the other hand, Caden Johnson pitched a complete game for Concordia, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five.

The final score was CUNE 4, UJ 1 with Concordia recording 10 hits and the University of Jamestown with just three hits. The game was a tough loss for the Jimmies, but they showed resilience and fought until the end.
