Record-Setting Ford Paces Cup Field in Talladega Superspeedway Drafting Race

Michael McDowell Secures Pole Position for Talladjson racing Cup Starting Lineup

At Talladega, Alabama, the Ford driver will lead the Cup field for the third time this season in a drafting style race. Michael McDowell secured the pole position for Sunday’s Cup race with a qualifying lap of 182.022 mph, while Austin Cindric, another Ford driver, qualified in second place. In total, five Ford drivers, three Chevrolet drivers and two Toyota drivers made it to the final round of qualifying.

Kyle Busch was the fastest Chevrolet driver, qualifying in fourth place with a lap of 181.147 mph while Martin Truex Jr was the fastest Toyota driver securing sixth place with a lap of 180.707 mph. Three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen who is making his Cup debut at Talladega qualified in 17th place with a lap of 179.912 mph.
