Record-High Number of Israelis Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in 2022

Israel’s Central Social Security Center Reports 22 in 1,000 Children Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder

The Central Bureau of Statistics reported that in 2022, there were 57,233 individuals in Israel diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. This equates to 5.9 people for every 1,000 of the population or one in 167. Of those diagnosed, 77% were male, 81% were under 18 years old and 92% were Jewish. Among Jewish individuals, 42% had an Ashkenazi father while 26% had a Sephardic father. Additionally, 46% of those diagnosed with autism had at least one additional disability and 9% had two or more diagnoses.
