The 2023 Music City Bowl Boosted Nashville’s Economy by $23 Million

The 2023 TransPerfect Music City Bowl generated $23 million in direct economic impact for Nashville’s economy, according to officials. This is a significant increase from the previous year, where Purdue defeated Tennessee in a sold-out game that generated $32 million in economic impact.

The bowl game took place on Dec. 30 at Nissan Stadium and drew an attendance of 50,088, making it the fourth-largest college football bowl game outside of the College Football Playoff. The positive economic impact of the event was attributed to the support from fans, sponsors, and the community by Scott Ramsey, President & CEO of the Music City Bowl. He emphasized that this success is a testament to Nashville’s commitment to supporting live events and expressed optimism for future endeavors.

During the festivities, a total of 24,363 room nights were occupied by out-of-town attendees who spent an average of $243 daily while in-town attendees spent an average of $206 daily. Since its establishment in 1998, the Music City Bowl has contributed over $400 million in direct economic impact to Nashville’s economy.
