Record-breaking $1 million NASCAR All-Star Race qualifying postponed due to rain; final three spots still up for grabs

NASCAR All-Star Qualifying and Pit Crew Challenge Postponed

The NASCAR All-Star Race qualifying and pit crew challenge scheduled for Friday night at North Wilkesboro Speedway has been postponed due to rain. The qualifying has been rescheduled for 11:40 a.m. on Saturday. Following qualifying, the NASCAR Truck Series race will take place, along with two 60-lap heats at night to determine the starting lineup for Sunday night’s All-Star Race.

A total of 20 drivers will participate in the $1 million All-Star Race, with 17 already earning their spot through past accomplishments. The final three spots will be filled by two finishers from the Open race on Sunday and the winner of a fan vote. If Saturday’s activities are rained out, points leader Kyle Larson will be on the pole for the race on Sunday night, aiming for his fourth All-Star race championship.

The pit crew challenge involves drivers taking the green flag, completing one full lap at speed, and then heading to designated pit stalls for a four-tire stop with mock fuel delivery. The total elapsed time from green flag to checkered flag will determine the qualifying time and the pole sitter for the first heat race and the All-Star Race.
