The SCHEELS-sponsored Iowa High School Sports Awards has announced the nominees for Boys and Girls Wrestlers of the Year. The winners will be revealed during a live show scheduled for June 10 at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines. This recognition program honors student-athletes over a nine-month period and will culminate in a red-carpet event this spring, celebrating outstanding athletes, coaches, and teams from sanctioned Iowa high school sports.
At the live show, nominees for Boys Wrestler of the Year will be recognized alongside players of the year for 20 other sports. The event will also feature various awards honoring student-athletes for both athletic achievements and off-the-field accomplishments. Categories include Courage Award, Coaches of the Year, Teams of the Year, and the Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year awards. Nominated athletes with RSVP will receive complimentary tickets to the event thanks to sponsors. Interested guests of nominees can purchase tickets online.
The nominees for Boys Wrestler of the Year include Koy Davidson, Carson Doolittle, Tyler Harper, Jacob Helgeson, Daniel Herrera, Kane Naaktgeboren, Carter Pearson, Klayten Perreault, Dreshaun Ross, Austin Scranton, Cale Seaton and Kael Voinovich.
