Reckless Ballistic Missile Launches by DPRK Draw Strong Condemnation from the United States

Recent Ballistic Missile Launches by North Korea Spark Concern in U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in 2015

The recent ballistic missile launches by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have drawn strong condemnation from the United States. These actions are a direct violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions (UNSCRs), which aim to prevent the acquisition of technologies and materials for weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and ballistic missile programs.

The DPRK’s reckless behavior poses a serious threat not only to the Korean Peninsula but also to the region and global peace and security. Its actions will only deepen its isolation and destabilize security in the region, undermining the non-proliferation regime. The international community, including the United States, strongly condemns these actions and urges the DPRK to comply with UNSCRs related to WMD and ballistic missile programs.

Efforts will continue to disrupt the DPRK’s illicit revenue generation supporting prohibited weapons programs, including the exploitation of overseas workers and cyber activities. The diversion of resources towards weapons programs at the expense of the North Korean people is condemned by the international community. The United States affirms its unwavering commitment to the defense of South Korea and Japan, which are vital allies in maintaining peace and stability in East Asia.

The international community calls on the DPRK to refrain from further provocations and engage in meaningful dialogue without preconditions. Only through constructive dialogue can we hope for a peaceful resolution to this ongoing conflict, which has caused immense suffering for millions of people in North Korea.
