A young man was rushed to Sharon Hospital on Tuesday with symptoms of fever, headache, and vomiting. Though initially conscious, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he exhibited neurological symptoms. After a series of tests, doctors diagnosed him with a rare disease and transferred him to Levinson Hospital for intensive care in the neurosurgery department.
Dr. Aina Dvir, a senior physician in the neurosurgical intensive care unit at Bilinson, explained that the disease is so rare that it is often not considered as a possibility. Thanks to Dr. Tamar Gutesman’s quick diagnosis, treatment was administered promptly using various medications. The Ministry of Health reported that this disease has a high mortality rate and has only been reported in 400 cases worldwide so far.
