Rare and Valuable: Nick Bosa’s Return to 49ers Offseason Organized Team Activities

49ers get energized by Nick Bosa’s unexpected OTA appearance

Nick Bosa has made a rare appearance at organized team activities this offseason, and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan expressed his excitement about having him present. Typically, Bosa spends this time training in Florida before returning to Santa Clara for mandatory work. However, Bosa has faced challenges in past offseasons that have prevented him from fully participating in OTAs. This year, he has been able to attend and Shanahan hopes he continues to do so.

During Tuesday’s practice, the 49ers were without running back Christian McCaffrey and receivers Jauan Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk. Despite their absence, quarterback Brock Purdy emphasized the importance of Bosa’s presence at voluntary workouts. Purdy mentioned that Bosa’s commitment to being on the field and participating in phase three of the offseason program was special and set a positive example for his teammates. Purdy highlighted the value of having Bosa back on the field, providing looks for the offensive line and helping with pocket movement drills. Overall, Purdy stressed that Bosa’s return was motivating for the team as they look ahead to the season.
