Ranking Greek Yogurt from Worst to Best: A Taste Test and Price Comparison

GREEK YOGURT REVIEW: Ranking the Best Options at the Grocery Store

We recently conducted a taste test of plain Greek yogurt from four grocery stores, ranking them from worst to best. Our family is a big fan of Greek yogurt due to its nutritional benefits, including being low in carbs, high in protein, and containing probiotics. We often use it as a filling breakfast or snack for my 9-year-old daughter.

According to market intelligence company Skyquestt, the global market for Greek yogurt is worth billions. It’s interesting to note that while many brands offer Greek-style varieties, their prices are often twice that of standard plain yogurt. To determine which Greek yogurt offers the best value, I decided to try store-brand versions from Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Costco, and Wegmans. I purchased the most basic plain Greek yogurt available at each store and tasted them without any toppings. All options were nonfat except for the 365 brand from Whole Foods, which contained 3.5% milk fat.

Our taste test revealed that Trader Joe’s Greek nonfat yogurt was too tangy for our liking and my daughter gave it a thumbs down. On the other hand, the organic plain nonfat Greek yogurt from Wegmans was praised for its perfect subtle flavor. This experiment allowed us to determine which Greek yogurt offers the best taste and value for our family.
