Barclay Goodrow’s future with the Rangers is uncertain as the team has placed him on waivers. This move is seen as a cap-saving measure by the Blueshirts, who are exploring other options for his services at his current $3.6 million annual cap hit. If Goodrow clears waivers, he will become a free agent.
Acquired by the Rangers in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning in July 2021, Goodrow has had a successful three-year tenure with the team. During this time, he tallied 28 goals and 48 assists in 241 regular season games. While his regular season production may not have been standout, Goodrow excelled during this year’s playoffs, scoring six goals and two assists in 16 postseason games. One of his most notable accomplishments was scoring the overtime winner in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Florida Panthers, and adding two more goals in the Rangers’ 5-4 win in Game 3.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future with the team, Goodrow expressed confidence in the Rangers’ group following their season end. He remains positive about their potential moving forward, emphasizing that while their current situation may be disappointing, he believes in their bright future ahead.
