Rampant Car Crashes Continue to Plague Hollywood Flooring Businesses, Calls for Greater Safety Measures Echo

Speeding Driver Crashes into Hollywood Flooring Business on Sheridan Street

On Tuesday morning, a car crashed into a Hollywood flooring business in Dania Beach, causing significant damage to the building. The Broward Sheriff’s Office received a report around 3 a.m. of the incident at SW 12 Avenue and SW 16th Street.

The driver of a 2014 Audi was traveling westbound on Sheridan Street when they hit a sign and collided with Wholesale Flooring Depot at North 22 Avenue. According to witnesses, the driver flew over the railroad tracks on Sheridan Street, lost control, drove through a grass field, and then crashed into the building. The impact knocked down the garage door and portions of the wall.

Steven Deshazo, who lives nearby, described the crash as sounding like a wrecking ball going through a building. He said that he heard the car traveling at least 100 mph before it hit the building. The driver was taken to the hospital following the crash.

This was not just an isolated incident; Sharon Ciavvato, owner of Wholesale Flooring Depot, expressed frustration as this was the third time her business had been damaged by a car crash in recent years. She emphasized that she believes action needs to be taken by city officials to prevent such accidents from happening again in the future.
