In the midst of Wednesday’s game between Philadelphia Union and New York City FC, a raccoon made a shocking appearance on the field. The small yet agile creature managed to evade capture for two whole minutes before being caught in a trap by a Union grounds crew.
The crowd and Apple TV broadcasters couldn’t help but find humor in the situation, urging the furry intruder on as it outmaneuvered the crew. However, the players were likely less amused by the unexpected stoppage in play.
Fortunately, the Union announced that the raccoon was safely taken by Hoffman’s Exterminating and released back into the wild outside of Philadelphia. Meanwhile, NYCFC managed to maintain their lead during the game, eventually winning 2-1 despite the Union’s efforts to catch up.
