Quick Thinking and Courageous Acts: The Lifesaving Story of Two Doctors in a Traffic Accident

On April 13, an accident occurred in Kon Tum province involving a passenger car and a tractor-trailer. Dr. Nguyen Van Giap, 35 years old, and Doctor Luong Hai Yen, 33 years old, were among the first medical staff to arrive at the scene.

Dr. Giap shared that any medical staff encountering such a situation will rush to save the victims. His wife, Dr. Yen, believes this experience is valuable in helping people understand the importance of out-of-hospital emergency care to limit injuries and save lives during the critical “golden time.”

The doctors administered first aid, called for help from others and provided care to those in need until the ambulance arrived. Dr. Yen even had to perform chest compressions on a patient in a coma to help them regain a heartbeat.

Experts emphasize the importance of out-of-hospital circulatory arrest skills in saving lives during emergencies. Without prompt treatment, victims can face severe health risks, including brain damage or death within minutes. Mr. Pham The Dong, Vice President of the Vietnam Private Hospital Association, awarded certificates of merit to the doctors for their heroic actions in rescuing victims and preventing further tragedies.

Hospital General Director Pham Van Hoc praised the doctors for their tireless efforts in saving lives and highlighted the positive impact of their actions on others. The doctors were honored by the hospital and the Vietnam Private Hospital Association for their noble gesture in promptly attending to the victims and minimizing fatalities.

Their actions serve as an exemplary model for others to follow and replicate in similar situations.

Doctor Nguyen Van Giap was commended by Hung Vuong Gia Lai Hospital after rescuing victims of a car crash alongside his wife Doctor Luong Hai Yen on April 13.
