China chooses Lummus’ CATOFIN technology for new plant

Qingyang Tongxin Petroleum Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Xi’An Changqing Tongxin Petroleum Machinery Co., Ltd., has selected Lummus’ CATOFIN® technology for a new dehydrogenation unit in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, China. The company was established in 2023 and this plant will be their first, upgrading liquefied petroleum gas in the region to produce chemical and refined products.

Romain Lemoine, Chief Business Officer of Polymers and Petrochemicals at Lummus Technology, expressed confidence in the technology, stating that the market leader in dehydrogenation technology continues to be chosen by customers for its reliability, robustness, and feed flexibility. Jace Wang, Head of Propylene and Vice President BU Catalyst at Clariant, emphasized the partnership’s successful track record in on-purpose olefin production and anticipation of positive results for Qingyang Tongxin.

The project’s scope includes the technology license, basic engineering, training, and technical advisory services. Once operational, the unit will process 300,000 tons per year of combined propane and isobutane feedstocks. This article falls under downstream news
