Putin: Russia Will Respond With Devastation if Attacked with Strategic Weapons, Reiterates No Preemptive Strike in Nuclear Doctrine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reiterated that a preemptive strike will not be part of Russia’s new nuclear doctrine. Instead, he emphasized that Moscow would respond with devastating force to any attack with strategic weapons. During a press conference in Vietnam, Putin made it clear that a retaliatory attack would ensure the destruction of any enemy.

When asked about possible changes to Russian nuclear doctrine, Putin expressed concerns about adversaries attempting to lower the threshold for using nuclear weapons. He acknowledged discussions among Western experts about new types of nuclear weapons, which prompted Russia to closely monitor the situation.

Putin also addressed the increased tensions and positioning of nuclear forces by Western countries near Russia. He stated that Russian strategic nuclear forces are always on alert and dismissed concerns about Western actions, emphasizing that they hope to provoke fear but that Russia will not be intimidated.

The preservation of the Russian State is tied to its nuclear doctrine, according to Putin. He warned that any attempt to defeat Russia on the battlefield would lead to the end of the state’s existence. Putin underscored the importance of Russia’s long history and questioned whether living in a world without its presence is necessary.

This is not the first time Putin has connected Russia’s nuclear doctrine to its survival. In 2018, he warned of global catastrophe if attempts were made to destroy Russia, emphasizing the need for its continued existence. Putin’s stance reflects Russia’s commitment to maintaining its security and sovereignty in the face of external threats.

In conclusion, President Putin has made it clear that a preemptive strike will not be included in Russia’s new nuclear doctrine and emphasized that Moscow would respond with devastating force if attacked with strategic weapons. The Russian leader also highlighted concerns over potential changes in Western experts’ discussions regarding new types of nuclear weapons and increased tensions between Western countries and Russia regarding positioning of their strategic nuclear forces near each other’s borders.

Furthermore, Putin tied the preservation of the Russian State directly to its nuclear doctrine while warning against attempts by adversaries trying lowering threshold for using such weapons or destroying it altogether which could lead to global catastrophe.

Overall, these statements reflect Russia’s ongoing efforts towards ensuring its security and sovereignty amidst external threats while highlighting how closely it is monitoring developments related to these issues on a global scale.
