Protecting Sports Integrity: A Collaborative Workshop Between Sports Organizations and Betting Entities”.

A workshop held on April 11 at Olympic House in Lausanne aimed to align the approaches of sports organizations and betting entities in preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024 and UEFA EURO 2024. The meeting provided participants with an opportunity to learn from each other, strengthen collaboration, and ensure efficient information exchange before and during these major events.

Several International Federations (IFs) attended the workshop to share their experiences, connect with the betting sector, and gain new insights into the latest trends in sports betting for their own events. This meeting was a valuable opportunity for IFs to enhance their understanding of how to prevent the manipulation of competitions and ensure fair play.

The workshop included presentations by the Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (OM Unit PMC) and UEFA’s Anti-Match-Fixing Unit. These presentations outlined the strategies and monitoring systems used by each organization to detect irregularities and cheating. The OM Unit PMC, established in 2017, focuses on regulation and legislation, awareness raising and capacity building, as well as intelligence and investigations to prevent the manipulation of competitions by sports organizations.

By working together, these stakeholders can help safeguard the fairness and credibility of competitive sports for athletes and fans alike.
