Protecting Small Businesses: Senate Bill 63 Shields Ohio Companies from Unfounded Asbestos Lawsuits

Ohio Senate Passes Legislation to Shield Small Businesses from Unjust Lawsuits.

Small businesses and other companies are being protected from being included in asbestos lawsuits in which they bear no responsibility, thanks to Senate Bill 63. NFIB State Director Chris Ferruso emphasized the importance of this pro-business legislation in a recent statement.

Ferruso highlighted that small businesses do not have the financial resources or legal support to defend themselves against every unfounded legal claim. The burden of defending against even one baseless lawsuit can be enough to force a small business to close its doors, regardless of the outcome in court.

The passage of SB63 by the Ohio Senate is seen as a positive step towards shielding small businesses from unnecessary legal battles. NFIB and its members express gratitude for the Senate’s actions and are hopeful that the House will also approve the bill. Ultimately, they are optimistic that Governor DeWine will sign SB63 into law, providing much-needed protection for small businesses in the state.
