Rodgers and Guthrie to Lead Health Subcommittee Hearing on Cybersecurity in Health Care

In the wake of the recent cyberattack on Change Healthcare, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Subcommittee on Health Chair Brett Guthrie (R-KY) have announced a subcommittee hearing titled “Examining Health Sector Cybersecurity in the Digital Age.” The hearing will address cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the health care sector.

Chairs Rodgers and Guthrie emphasized the importance of securing patients’ sensitive health information and protecting the health care sector from disruption, particularly in light of the recent cyberattack. They highlighted the benefits of digitalization in improving patient access to quality care, but also noted its challenges and vulnerabilities.

The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM ET in 2123 Rayburn House Office Building. Witnesses for the hearing will be announced by invitation only, and it will be open to the public and press. It will be live streamed online at https://energycommerce.house.gov/.
