Price Dip in Exchange Electricity Over the Weekend: A Brief Analysis of Recent Changes in the Market

Electricity users in exchange programs are now being spoiled

On Friday, the stock market price of electricity dropped below Thursday’s spike and remained affordable on Saturday. The price of electricity on the exchange fell significantly since Thursday’s spike. However, in the long-term forecast, it is expected to start rising again after the summer. Over the weekend, exchange electricity users can enjoy cheaper prices as the weekend progresses.

There was a significant spike in exchange electricity prices on Thursday due to a drop in wind power production. The nuclear power plants Olkiluoto 2 and Olkiluoto 3 are currently not producing electricity, with delays reported at these plants including maintenance issues. The maintenance shutdown of Olkiluoto 2 began last Sunday and is expected to return to electricity production on Monday, May 6. Olkiluoto 1 is scheduled for maintenance shutdown from May 12 to May 28. Electricity price futures show a decrease in prices in May-June, followed by a steady increase as the weather cools down. Prices have remained relatively stable in recent months, with occasional drops and spikes.
