Preparedness for Poisoning Surge: Vinh Phuc Department of Health Readies 1,000 Beds and Medical Staff Amid Outbreak

Set up 1,000 beds for treating poisoned employees

In anticipation of an increase in the number of people affected by poisoning, the Vinh Phuc Department of Health has prepared 1,000 beds and mobilized maximum medical staff to provide timely emergency treatment. Leaders of the department stated that hospitals have all necessary resources such as vehicles, hospital beds, medicines, chemicals, and supplies to ensure patient safety.

At Vinh Phuc Provincial General Hospital, 67 patients are currently receiving treatment, with most showing positive progress. The victims at Lac Viet Vinh Yen Friendship Hospital are mostly stable, with 76 mild cases being discharged and 182 people remaining under observation at the hospital. Other medical centers in the region are also treating a total of 336 patients.

The Department of Food Safety under the Ministry of Health has recommended the immediate suspension of the company’s kitchen responsible for the food poisoning incident. They are working to trace the origin of the food and take samples to identify the cause. The incident occurred during lunchtime on May 14, when more than 3,200 workers were served home-cooked meals that resulted in symptoms of food poisoning.

Following the onset of symptoms in a group of workers, a total of 351 cases were reported with symptoms of abdominal pain and nausea. These workers were taken to various hospitals for emergency treatment. In the aftermath of the incident, investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the food poisoning and ensure the safety of all individuals affected.
