Positive Signs in Porzingis’ Rehabilitation: Will the Celtics Have Their Star Back for Game 1?

Joe Mazzulla provides encouraging progress report on Porzingis’ injury recovery

In a positive update on Kristaps Porzingis’ injury rehabilitation, Joe Mazzulla has revealed that the injured star has been gradually increasing the intensity of his on-court workouts. Despite not participating in team activities, Porzingis has been engaged in solo sessions and showing improvement. While it remains uncertain whether he will be ready for Game 1 of the Finals on June 6, the Celtics are hopeful that he will return to the lineup and add depth and talent to their roster.

Porzingis is a valuable asset on both ends of the court due to his scoring ability, rebounding skills, and shot-blocking prowess. During the regular season, he averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game. The Mavericks hold a 3-1 series lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals, where Porzingis played from 2019-20 to 2021-22. If both teams make it to the Finals, Porzingis could potentially face his former team in a highly anticipated matchup.

The Celtics have performed well without Porzingis so far in the playoffs, winning nine out of ten games without him on board. However, having him back in the lineup would add depth and talent to their roster.

Despite some concerns about Porzingis’ recovery progress earlier this month, there have been encouraging signs regarding his recovery lately. Mazzulla mentioned that Porzingis has been gradually increasing his intensity during on-court workouts.

As Mazzulla put it,”Porzingis is showing improvement with each workout.” He added that “Porzingis’ recovery is moving forward steadily.”

Mazzulla also said that Porzingis has been working out individually and focusing on building up strength in his right calf.

With just over two weeks left before Game 1 of the NBA Finals against Miami Heat, there is still much uncertainty surrounding Porzingis’ availability for game one.

If Porzingis returns for Game 1 of the Finals against Miami Heat on June 6th at TD Garden arena it would be a significant boost for Boston Celtics fans who have watched them win nine out of ten games since their star center went down with an injury during Game four against Miami Heat during first round playoff series.

It would be interesting to see how he performs if he returns as he was one of Boston’s top players last season before getting injured towards end of regular season.
