Portland World Naked Bike Ride Canceled for 2024, But Leadership Opportunities Abound

Volunteers Needed for 2025 Portland World Naked Bike Ride; Event Canceled in 2024

The annual Portland World Naked Bike Ride took place on August 12, 2023, with hundreds of cyclists participating. This event has been popular for decades, with Portlanders using it as a way to protest against reliance on pollution-based transportation.

However, the streets of Portland will not see the familiar sight of naked cyclists in 2024. The organizers of the Portland World Naked Bike Ride announced that the official event for 2024 has been canceled. They explained that planning for the event did not start on time, and they fell behind on their leadership recruiting goals. Organizing a safe and accessible protest of this scale takes months of planning and preparation.

The cancellation of the 2024 event might disappoint some Portlanders, but the organizers are looking forward to future opportunities. They are planning monthly full moon rides and are already recruiting volunteers for the naked bike ride in 2025. Community members interested in joining the PDXWNBR Leadership Committee can apply by September 6, 2024.

While it’s true that there is no naked bike ride in 2024, it’s important to note that this event has been significant in Portland since it began in 2004. It is one of the largest events of its kind in the world, attracting thousands of participants each year. The organizers are committed to making future events successful and are looking for new leaders to join their diverse, all-volunteer team.
