Pope Francis Skips Good Friday Procession Due to Health Issues, Sparks Concern Among Some

Pope Francis choses to prioritize his health by skipping Good Friday event

Pope Francis has made the decision not to lead the traditional Good Friday procession at Rome’s Colosseum this year, citing health concerns. The last-minute announcement raised questions about his condition during this busy period. According to the Vatican, Francis had prepared meditations for the event but was unable to attend in person due to his current health issues.

The Vatican explained that the 87-year-old pontiff had been struggling with what has been described as the flu, bronchitis, or a cold all winter. He has been having others read his speeches occasionally and even skipped his Palm Sunday homily. Despite these health challenges, Francis is still scheduled to preside over the Easter Vigil on Saturday and Easter Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Square. He is also expected to deliver his “Urbi et Orbi” address on global crises and threats to humanity.

Pope Francis’ absence from the Good Friday procession has sparked concern among some, but it is important to note that he continues to fulfill his duties as head of the Catholic Church during this significant time in the liturgical calendar.
