Ponsse’s Job Reductions: Lower than Expected and Mitigating the Impact on Employees

Ponsse to eliminate over 20 positions in Finland

The manufacturing company Ponsse initially estimated that it would be reducing a total of 120-140 jobs, with 50-60 of those in Finland. However, after change negotiations, the company is now reducing only 21 jobs in Finland and approximately 40 jobs outside of Finland. Despite the original estimates, the number of layoffs ended up being lower than expected due to many employees finding new positions within the company after a change in operating model.

Despite the challenges faced by Ponsse during job reduction negotiations, the company was able to minimize the impact on its workforce by offering opportunities for employees to transition into new roles within the company. This approach helped mitigate the overall number of layoffs and ensured that employees were given support during the transition period.

The change negotiations at Ponsse concluded about a month ago, but at that time, the exact number of layoffs was still unclear. The company worked hard to ensure that as few employees as possible were affected by job reductions, placing many in newly opened positions as part of the change in operating model.

Overall, Ponsse’s approach to job reductions was successful in minimizing their impact on employees while also ensuring that they could continue to operate efficiently and effectively.
