Polymer Science Pioneer Charles Dalton Awarded Prestigious Goldwater Scholarship at Southern Miss

Scholarship Awarded to Southern Miss Polymer Science Student

The University of Southern Mississippi is proud to announce that one of their polymer science students, Charles Dalton, has been awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship for 2024. This brings Southern Miss’s total recipients to a state-leading total of 28. Dalton, who hails from Mandeville, Louisiana and is a member of the Southern Miss Honors College, has been recognized for his outstanding achievements in the field.

During the summer of 2023, Dalton conducted research at Northwestern University in Chicago where he focused on promoting catalytic degradation of chemical warfare agents. He continued this research in the Clemons Lab during the current school year, further expanding his knowledge and expertise in the field of polymer science.

As a dedicated and hardworking student, Dalton’s recognition with the Goldwater Scholarship is a testament to his commitment to academic excellence and his passion for research in the field of polymer science. His achievements highlight the quality of education and opportunities available at the University of Southern Mississippi for students pursuing careers in science and technology.
