Police officer in Mannheim dies following knife attack

On Friday afternoon, a brutal knife attack in Mannheim left a police officer seriously injured. Despite the efforts of doctors to save his life, Rouven L. (29) passed away as a result of his injuries. The Interior Ministry has confirmed the news and expressed deep condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

Rouven L. was attacked by Sulaiman A. (25) in the Mannheim market while he was on duty. The violent attacker stabbed him multiple times in the head before being stopped by another officer’s pistol shot. Earlier in the day, the same attacker had also stabbed Islam critic Michael Stürzenberger (59).

Rouven L.’s colleagues are mourning his loss, remembering him as a dedicated and straightforward officer who always gave his best. They held a memorial ceremony at the crime scene to honor him and pay their respects.

Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann has expressed his shock and sympathy for Rouven L.’s family, friends, and colleagues.
