Poisoned Patients on the Rise in Long Khanh Regional General Hospital after Bread Consumption

Over 200 Dong Nai residents suspected of food poisoning after consuming bread

Long Khanh Regional General Hospital has seen a sudden increase in patients suspected of poisoning after consuming bread over the past two days. A total of 209 cases have been reported, with one serious case requiring transfer to a higher hospital for further treatment. The patients started arriving at the hospital on May 1-2, with 160 individuals requiring hospitalization, 5 coming in for examination and then discharged, and 43 mild cases immediately discharged, according to the hospital’s leader.

The symptoms exhibited by these patients were similar to food poisoning or intestinal infection, including vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain. It was discovered that all the patients had consumed meat sandwiches from a bakery in Xuan Binh ward between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on April 30. Fortunately, most of the patients are now in stable condition.

The Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Dong Nai province is collaborating with the Medical Center and other relevant agencies in Long Khanh City to investigate the root cause of the incident. The Department of Health has instructed Long Khanh Regional General Hospital to provide the best possible care for the affected patients while they work towards identifying what led to this outbreak. In addition, the bakery in question has been temporarily closed as it did not possess a certificate of food safety and hygiene.

The situation is being closely monitored as efforts are being made to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.
