In March 2022, Xbox announced their plans to add mouse and keyboard support to their cloud gaming service. Now, two years later, they have made this feature available in preview for users enrolled in the PC Gaming Preview program. This means that PC gamers can now use these accessories to play games like Fornite, Doom 64, or Sea of Thieves through the Xbox cloud service on Edge and Chrome browsers as well as the Xbox app on Windows PC.
While previously players had to use a controller to play these games on PC, some users prefer the precision and control that a mouse and keyboard provide. With this new feature, users can now play a selection of titles using a mouse and keyboard instead of a controller, making the gaming experience more flexible and customizable.
The mouse and keyboard support is available for compatible browsers such as Edge and Chrome, as well as the Xbox app on Windows computers. Some of the titles that currently have support for this feature include Fornite, ARK Survival Evolved, Sea of Thieves, and Halo Infinite, among others. Players interested in trying out this feature will need to enable preview functions in their browser and ensure the game stream is in full-screen mode for optimal performance.
