Pizza Hut, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, is introducing a new product called the Cheeseburger Melt on May 14. The Cheeseburger Melt is a unique twist on the traditional American burger, featuring a thin parmesan-coated crust filled with beef, bacon, onions, mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Customers can enjoy it with Burger Sauce on the side.
According to Rachel Antalek, Pizza Hut’s chief food innovation officer, this move into the burger business is an exciting venture for the brand. The Cheeseburger Melt is the first offering in Pizza Hut’s new line of Melts that also include Pepperoni Lover’s Buffalo Chicken and Chicken Bacon Parmesan variations. Each melt features Pizza Hut’s signature Thin N’ Crispy crust and is meant to be a portable, crunchy and cheesy handheld item.
To promote the new Cheeseburger Melt, Pizza Hut is encouraging customers to try something different and “cheat” on their usual burger chain. On May 14th delivery drivers will be visiting various fast-food burger chains drive thrus where customers can scan a QR code to receive a coupon for a free Cheeseburger Melt and Pepsi. Additionally, the Cheeseburger Melt is part of Pizza Hut’s new My Hut Box Offer where customers can choose between Melts or two-topping Personal Pan Pizzas along with fries or boneless wings and a drink starting at $6.99 at participating locations nationwide.
