Pittsburgh’s Carlton Carrington Emerges as a First-Round NBA Draft Prospect While Blake Hinson Prepares for the Draft

CBS Sports Mock Draft Projects Bub Carrington as a Top Pick in NBA Draft

As the NBA Draft approaches, Pitt has two players, Carlton “Bub” Carrington and Blake Hinson, preparing to make their mark during the draft process. While Hinson has been ranked around No. 100 in recent prospect rankings, Carrington has solidified himself as a first-round talent.

Carlton Carrington had a successful freshman year at Pittsburgh, averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 41% from the field, 32% from three-point range, and 79% from the free-throw line. He emerged as one of the top true freshmen in college basketball, scoring in double digits 22 times, with four 20-plus point performances.

Carrington’s impressive performance at the NBA Combine leading up to this month’s draft has caught the attention of many teams and he is now being featured in many mock drafts. CBS Sports’ Adam Finkelstein recently released a mock draft that had Carrington going as high as No. 15 overall to the Miami Heat. While there is mixed intel on Carrington, some teams view him as a rising prospect while others did not invite him to the first round of green room invitations. For the Heat, Carrington would bring a high-upside big guard who showed significant improvement during his freshman season at Pittsburgh.

On the other hand Blake Hinson has been ranked around No. 100 in recent prospect rankings and he is preparing for the draft process but he hasn’t garnered much attention compared to Carrington . The 2024 NBA Draft will begin on June 26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn
