The Swedish Ice Hockey Federation announced that Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Marcus Pettersson has been added to Sweden’s roster for the upcoming IIHF World Championship tournament in May. Alongside Pettersson, Seattle Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky was also named to the roster for the tournament taking place in Czechia from May 10-26.
Pettersson, 27, has previous experience representing Sweden in international competitions, including the IIHF World Championship tournaments in 2019 and 2022. This season, he had a successful run with the Penguins, playing in all 82 games and achieving career highs in goals, assists, points, and average ice time per game.
