Physicians Rank as the Most Trustworthy Health Information Sources, According to Global Survey

Global Perspectives on Trust and Health: An Interactive Presentation

According to a report by global communications firm Edelman, physicians are considered the most credible sources of health information by patients compared to government leaders, celebrities, sports figures, and other influential individuals. The “2024 Edelman Trust Barometer Special Report: Trust and Health” includes survey data from 16 countries that details age breakdowns, feelings of empowerment in making health decisions, and political leanings.

The report also features a slideshow titled “My Provider Most Trusted as a Source of Truth on Health,” which reveals the percentages of people who trust various job categories to provide accurate information about health issues and how to protect public health. Physicians were included in this ranking, with the slides arranged based on low to high percentages in the United States, with the global highs and lows also noted.

The survey data classifies trust levels as distrust (1% to 49%), neutral (50% to 59%), and trust (60% to 100%). This data provides insight into how various professions are perceived in terms of credibility regarding health information.
