Phillip Dorsett’s Journey: From Colts to Broncos and Back Again

Breaking down the Broncos roster: Wide receiver Phillip Dorsett (No. 13)

The Broncos Wire is continuing their 90-man offseason roster series, and today they are taking a closer look at Phillip Dorsett, the tenth-year wide receiver who wears number 13. Before joining the Broncos, Dorsett was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2015.

During his time with the Colts, Dorsett recorded 73 receptions for 881 yards and eight touchdowns over two seasons. In 2017, he was traded to the New England Patriots, where he had great success and recorded an impressive total of 73 receptions for 881 yards and eight touchdowns over three years.

Unfortunately, in 2020, Dorsett suffered a foot injury that caused him to miss the entire season while playing for the Seattle Seahawks. However, he still managed to play for four teams in 2021: the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seahawks, and Houston Texans. During this time, he totaled an impressive 20 receptions for 257 yards and one touchdown.

Last summer, Dorsett was signed by the Broncos to their practice squad after finalizing their 53-man roster. Despite having long odds of making it onto the team’s roster in 2024 due to its deep wide receiver depth chart, Dorsett has a chance of staying with the team if he performs well on the practice squad.

Overall, Dorsett’s career has been marked by both successes and setbacks. Still, with his talent and determination to succeed on the field, he has shown that anything is possible when you put your mind to it.
