Phillies Optimistic About Road Trip Despite Injuries, with Turner and Castellanos Stepping Up

Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and J.T. Realmuto making strides towards their returns – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Despite the challenges posed by the absence of key players such as Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and J.T. Realmuto, the Phillies are optimistic about their prospects for a successful road trip. While no specific date has been set for their return, both Harper and Schwarber are making progress and have hit in batting cages at Wrigley Field. Meanwhile, Realmuto is undergoing rehabilitation and could potentially return post-All-Star break.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson has provided an update on the status of these injured players. He believes that Harper and Schwarber are not far away from returning to the lineup and could be eligible for activation on July 9 when the team begins a homestand. However, there is no specific date for their return yet. On the other hand, Realmuto’s return could come post-All-Star break but Thomson emphasized that he is a quick healer.

Despite the challenges faced by missing key players such as Realmuto who missed 19 games and the team going 10-9, Nick Castellanos and Trea Turner have stepped up to provide crucial contributions for the team. The Phillies will rely on their performances over the next week to 10 days as they navigate a challenging part of the schedule with several key players out.
