Two Flyers to Be Highlighted in 2024 World Championships

The 2024 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships kicked off in Czechia on Friday. Two players from the Philadelphia Flyers, Joel Farabee and Samuel Ersson, are representing Team USA and Team Sweden respectively.

The opening game of the preliminary round saw a match between Team USA and Sweden, with Sweden emerging victorious with a 5-2 win. Farabee played alongside Shane Pinto and Ryan Leonard and had four shots on goal in the losing effort. Ersson served as the backup goaltender for Team Sweden.

On Saturday, Team USA bounced back with a 6-1 win over Germany, with Farabee logging significant ice time playing alongside Will Smith and Trevor Zegras. The team will next face Slovakia, followed by games against France, Poland, Kazakhstan, and Austria.

Team Sweden had a day off on Saturday but will face Poland next. They will also play against Germany, Kazakhstan, Latvia, France, and Slovakia in the following days. In Group A of the tournament, other notable teams include Canada, Finland
