Peruvian Community in Brazil Struggles with Floods; Brazil Mobilizes Resources to Support Affected Peruvians

In recent times, Brazil has been hit by devastating floods that have affected not only the country but also Peruvians living in the region. According to our country’s ambassador to Brazil, approximately 73 Peruvians have been impacted in Rio Grande do Sul. This has prompted the provision of humanitarian assistance to those in the most serious situations.

The Peruvian consulate in Sao Paulo, which oversees southern Brazil, has registered around 220 Peruvians in Rio Grande do Sul. However, it is estimated that there are more than 2,000 Peruvians living in the area. Ambassador Acurio has been coordinating aid efforts for Peruvians affected by the floods in Brazil. The situation is challenging due to a new expected flood of the rivers and ongoing rains.

The embassy and consulate have been proactively contacting affected Peruvians to provide assistance, with a focus on food, medicine, and other basic requirements. The Brazilian government is also mobilizing resources to support those affected by the floods. Efforts are being made to ensure that all affected Peruvians have access to necessary support from the Brazilian Civil Defense.

The consulate and embassy are working closely with authorities to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to those in the most critical situations. The goal is to address immediate needs and support affected individuals as they recover from the damage caused by the floods. The emergency humanitarian aid is a priority and will continue as long as the situation persists.

The timeline for assistance depends on weather conditions and the extent of the damage caused by the floods. The Peruvian authorities are committed to supporting affected Peruvians, including those who may have lost everything and want to return to Peru. The focus is on providing both material and moral support to help those impacted by the floods recover and rebuild their lives.
