Perryton Incubator Receives $2.7 Million Grant to Support Business Growth After Natural Disasters

Perryton to receive $2.7M investment from US Department of Commerce to boost business growth

The city of Perryton in Texas has received a $2.7 million grant from US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo to support business growth after recent natural disasters in the region. This grant will be used to create the Rebuild Perryton Incubator, which will convert an existing building into commercial space for local businesses impacted by tornadoes. The EDA investment will also be matched with $625,000 in local funds.

The project is funded under the Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act 2023, which provided the Economic Development Administration (EDA) with additional funds for the Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) Program. The funds will support disaster relief and recovery for areas that received a major disaster declaration due to hurricanes, wildfires, flooding, and other natural disasters in 2021 and 2022.

Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Alejandra Y. Castillo stated that the EDA works closely with local communities to support economic growth in specific areas and this investment in Perryton will allow businesses to grow and thrive following natural disasters.

Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo expressed her support for this investment saying it will help businesses recover from the recent tornadoes and create jobs while strengthening the regional economy. For more information about the EDA’s Disaster Supplemental webpage can be found on their website.
