Penn State’s University Park Health Services Earn Full Accreditation from Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care

The University Park campus of Penn State University Health Services (UHS) has recently received full three-year reaccreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care Inc. (AAAHC). The accreditation process involved a comprehensive written application and an intensive on-site survey that evaluated UHS’s compliance with AAAHC policies and procedures. The survey assessed hundreds of standards related to patient care evaluation, staff credentialing, risk management, and other critical areas.

Jamie Spicer, UHS compliance specialist, expressed pride and gratitude for being part of the UHS team at Penn State. She praised the dedication and compassion of her colleagues in achieving this achievement. The AAAHC commended UHS for its beautiful facility, ‘super pharmacy,’ and organization of credentialing charts at the Student Health Center.

UHS is a unit of Penn State Student Affairs that employs more than 20 board-certified clinicians and over 100 ancillary and support staff. They offer a wide range of medical services including urgent care, preventive care, on-site pharmacy, physical therapy, imaging, lab services, and ambulance services for Penn State students. The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care was established in 1979 as a private nonprofit organization that develops standards to advance patient safety, quality care, and value for ambulatory health care organizations.
