Penguin Life: Elevating Personal Development Through Merged Imprint’s New Beginnings

Penguin Life, a new imprint formed by the merger of Penguin Business and Penguin General, is focusing on publishing personal development books that aim to improve readers’ overall lives. Pippa Wright, the publishing director, will lead the imprint and publish a wide range of books in categories such as health-led science, popular psychology, smart thinking, career, productivity, focus, fitness, and small illustrated projects.

Wright’s goal for Penguin Life is to highlight major global voices that help readers make positive changes in their lives with books that become definitive texts. The merging of the two lists is seen as an opportunity to elevate Penguin General’s presence in the personal development market. Preena Gadher, managing director of Penguin General, believes that Wright’s strategic approach and market knowledge will energize the new imprint and create new opportunities.

Alongside Wright, editorial director Emily Robertson, along with senior commissioning editor Amy McWalters and editor Celia Buzuk will join the Penguin Life team. The imprint will also be looking to hire another editorial director. The decision to merge the two imprints comes from the understanding that readers of personal development books seek overall improvements in their lives, regardless of whether it relates to work or personal life.
