Pekingese Named Wild Thang Takes Home Top Prize in World’s Ugliest Dog Contest

World’s Ugliest Dog Contest Declares Winner

A Pekingese named Wild Thang from the US has been crowned the ugliest dog in the world after winning the 2024 World’s Ugliest Dog contest in California. Despite facing numerous physical issues, including missing teeth and a leg that constantly paddles, Wild Thang was able to clinch the top prize. His owner, Ann Lewis, received a $5,000 (£4,000) check for their glamorous/ugly companion.

The competition is an annual event held for nearly 50 years and celebrates the unique qualities of all dogs. It is not meant to make fun of ‘ugly dogs’, but rather to have fun with their wonderful personalities and showcase their beauty. In this year’s contest, Rome came in second place while Daisy Mae took third place as well.
