Patriots Waive Offensive Lineman Andrew Stueber: A Look at His Time with the Team

Report: Patriots to release offensive lineman who was 2022 NFL draft pick

The New England Patriots have made the difficult decision to waive third-year offensive lineman Andrew Stueber, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. Stueber was drafted in the seventh round after playing offensive tackle at Michigan, but he has been practicing at guard during OTAs.

Despite facing tough competition for a roster spot at guard, including Sidy Sow, Atonio Mafi, Nick Leverett, and Michael Jordan, Stueber’s chances seemed to improve when the Patriots used a fourth-round pick on Layden Robinson in the 2024 NFL draft. However, unfortunately for Stueber, his prospects were still limited as he never had the opportunity to establish himself due to a hamstring injury as a rookie and spending the 2023 season on the practice squad.

The Patriots were in need of help at tackle during that time which didn’t work in Stueber’s favor. Despite his struggles, it seems that Stueber put forth a good effort and worked hard during OTAs. Ultimately, however, the team has decided to waive him and leave his future with them uncertain.
